ACT Infraport, Salamis Shipyards sign MoU for Greenfield Shipyard project in India

ACT Infraport Ltd and Salamis Shipyards have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Technical Collaboration, marking an important milestone in the development of a state-of-the-art Greenfield Shipyard project in the Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat, India.

The MoU was signed in Athens in a cordial and constructive atmosphere by the chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Salamis Shipyards, on behalf of Salamis, and GM of Propel Shipping Athens on behalf of ACT Infraport Ltd, in the presence of the Indian ambassador to Greece, whose attendance honored the occasion and underscored the broader India-Greece strategic partnership.

This cooperation reflects a shared vision to support India’s maritime infrastructure development through the transfer of technical expertise, operational know-how, and best practices, with the initial phase of the collaboration focusing on technical support and operational assistance in the field of ship repair.

At a later stage, and subject to regulatory approvals and further contractual arrangements, the parties may also consider extending their collaboration to selected shipbuilding and ship conversion activities, in line with the long-term development roadmap of the project.

Salamis Shipyards brings to this cooperation more than four decades of experience in commercial and naval shipbuilding, ship repair, and complex conversion projects, including participation in major European defense programs and international patrol vessel contracts. Its technical depth, operational discipline, and project execution capability are expected to add substantial value to the Greenfield Shipyard initiative.

ACT Infraport Ltd views this MoU as a key procedural step toward securing the allotment of waterfront from the Gujarat Maritime Board and progressing to the next phase of statutory approvals, studies, and project implementation.

Commenting on the occasion, representatives of both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building a partnership grounded in professionalism, mutual respect, and long-term strategic alignment.

Drawing inspiration from the spirit of the ancient Odyssey, where perseverance, prudence, and collaboration guide the journey toward a common destination, this cooperation seeks to turn vision into structured progress. As Mahatma Gandhi once observed, “The future depends on what we do in the present.” In this spirit, the partnership aspires to create enduring value for future generations by combining experience, innovation, and cross-cultural cooperation for the common good.

Both parties have agreed that subsequent stages of the cooperation, including any definitive technical collaboration agreement, commercial terms, or potential joint ventures, will be discussed and structured once the Greenfield Shipyard project enters its formal implementation phase.

This MoU represents not only a technical alignment but also a symbolic bridge between two maritime nations with deep historical roots and forward-looking ambitions.
